Update on masks and food/drink in the library

Dear Library Users,

As more of the total population becomes vaccinated, we will be making further changes to our “post-pandemic” policies. As of July 6, masks will no longer be required in the library for vaccinated individuals.

Please note that masks will continue to be required for anyone entering the Children’s department. As those under 12 are so far ineligible for the vaccine, and still at risk of contracting Covid, food, toys and computers will continue to be unavailable.

While in-library programs will not be held until September, we will have a number of Live on the Lawn events at the Wayside Inn’s Martha-Mary Chapel.

For the comfort of our patrons, the Goodnow Library allows snack/individual portions of food in designated areas of the library. These spaces are the main level, except as noted above, and the second floor, including the Teen space. Currently, no food or beverages are allowed in the Children’s Room.

We ask that you not consume hot, aromatic, or potentially messy items (pizza, burgers, and salads) in the library.

Covered beverages are allowed in all areas except for the Historical Room and the Computing and Technology Area.

We ask our patrons to clean up after themselves, and to notify staff if there is a spill that needs attention.

Library staff do not oversee food for potential allergens, such as nuts or dairy. Those with severe allergies should be aware that allergens may be present in the library.
