Introducing “Local Lit” Collection
The Goodnow Library Children’s Department is excited to announce the launch of a new “Local Lit” collection of books written by local children.
Do you know a child who has written a book that they might enjoy sharing with others?
Children in grades K-5 who are either enrolled in Sudbury Public Schools, or live in Sudbury or surrounding towns, are welcome to submit their books.
All submissions must be professionally bound. The Goodnow Library considers a “professionally bound” book as a title that has been published using online sites such as Amazon, Snapfish, or Shutterfly.
All accepted books will be in general circulation. Handwritten and/or handbound books cannot be accepted for inclusion in the collection, because they will not hold up to the usual wear and tear of library books.
The collection’s first book is “Pal,” by Sudbury elementary student Asher Goldman. The synopsis: “A kid gets a new dog, but he has to go away for a whole day and leave the dog alone. His dog does not know what’s happening, so he sets out to find his new family and has an incredible adventure with other animals. He must make it home before sunset though. What if he does not?”
“This is a great opportunity for children to write original books for their peers,” said Library Director Esmé Green. “There is nothing like seeing your book in print and on your favorite Library’s shelf. The Library is very excited to support the next generation of authors!”
Parents who wish to submit their child’s book are asked to contact the Children’s Department at [email protected], or call 978-440-5545.
