Sign up today at goodnowlibrary.beanstack.org and join the movement!

What is the Read Woke Challenge?

The Read Woke Challenge asks you to read a total of 10 books, one from each of 10 categories. The categories include African-American voices, Asian-American voices, Hispanic American voices, Female voices, LGBTQ+ voices, Native American voices, Diverse abilities, Immigrant and Refugee Voices, Social Injustice and Racism and Voices of those experiencing poverty and homelessness. This challenge will run from October 1-May 31.

How do I find Read Woke books?

To help you find books for all the different categories, we’ve created reading lists for each category and for adults, teens and children.

How do I participate?

  1. Register for the challenge on Beanstack.
  2. Click on any of the badges on the main page. There will be a link to a list of titles that fit that category. Choose one of those titles.
  3. When you’ve finished reading the book, click on the appropriate badge again and enter the title. You will then have completed that badge.
  4. Please log your reading also, as this will help us keep track of how many books or minutes have been read by all challenge participants.
  5. When you’ve read one book from each category, you’ve completed the challenge. But you don’t have to stop there! Read More and Read Woke!
