Monetary Donations
We are fortunate to enjoy financial support from the Town of Sudbury to operate our library. While public support is critical to our success, private support can make a significant difference for current users and for generations to come. To make that difference and reach a new level of excellence, the Goodnow Library welcomes donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.
Memorial & Honorary Gifts
The library will be pleased to accept donations in memory or honor of a relative or friend. To make a gift, please indicate the name of the person being honored, as well as the name and address of the person (family member or other) who should be notified. Memorial and Honorary Gifts are set aside for use by the Library at the discretion of the Library Director in conjunction with the donor’s wishes.
Goodnow Library Foundation
Established in 2008 to build an endowment that would create capacity for future initiatives, the Goodnow Library Foundation accepts donations in the form of outright cash gifts, securities, planned gifts, corporate matching gifts and corporate and foundation grants.
Naming and Plaques
At the discretion of the Library Trustees, donors to the Goodnow Library may be recognized by the Library’s Board of Trustees. for their financial contributions or exceptional achievement that benefit the programs, projects, and services. Please consult the Donor Recognition Policy and the Donor Recognition Guidelines for more information.
Other Gifts
Gifts of art, artifacts, furniture, etc. must be accepted by the Library Trustees. These gifts will be considered in light of the following criteria:
- Relevance to the library’s mission statement
- Space required for housing or storage
- Preservation and maintenance costs
All gifts accepted by the Board of Trustees become the property of the Goodnow Library, and reserve the right to make the final decision on the disposition of any gift.
