The Goodnow Library offers several choices of book clubs for all ages and interests. If you are interested in starting a new book club, please let us know!
Book Groups for Adults
The Bookies
The Bookies: A group that easily goes undercover while reading books you can really bet on. Read ’em and weep, or laugh… have fun, get smart! Feel free to ask for a copy from Randy LeSage, Group Leader. We hope you will attend and enjoy a lively, informal discussion!
The Bookies typically meet once a month on Monday morning. Please check our online calendar for future dates and details. Start time is 11AM. Please contact Randy LeSage at [email protected] for more information.
The Bookies will be reading Animal Farm by George Orwell next and will meet to discuss on March 2nd, 2026.

The Goodnow True Crime Book Club
Due to the popular demand of podcasts, such as “My Favorite Murder” and TV series like Tiger King, we are offering this book club for our readers with an interest in True Crime. Each month, the group will choose a book (or books) about a particular crime to read and discuss. The True Crime Book Club usually meets online on the second Wednesday of each month.
Registration is required through our online calendar.
The Goodnow True Crime Book Club will be reading Empire of Blue Water: Captain Morgan’s Great Pirate Army, the Epic Battle for the Americas, and the Catastrophe that Ended the Outlaws’ Bloody Reign by Stephan Talty next and will meet to discuss on March 18th, 2026.

The Great American Read Book Club
Welcome to The Great American Read Book Club! Inspired by PBS’ The Great American Read, we will spend each month reading and discussing a book from the list of America’s 100 most-loved books. The Great American Read Book Club usually meets online on the third Thursday of each month.
Registration for each session is required through our online calendar.
The Great American Read Book Club will be reading The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and will meet to discuss on March 19th, 2026.

Book Groups for Kids
The Children’s department offers three monthly book groups for our elementary age patrons: Book Buddies for 1st graders, Next Chapter for 2nd and 3rd graders, and Page Turners for 4th and 5th graders. The kids get to help pick the book selections and then meet to discuss over snacks one evening each month. Each group will play a game, or complete a fun activity related to the book, and we’ve even been fortunate enough to have local authors visit the groups! Registration is required for each session through our online calendar and the books can be picked up at the children’s desk.
Book Groups for Teens
The Teen department offers a monthly book club for teens. We’ll meet to discuss over snacks one afternoon each month. Registration is required for each session through our online calendar and the books can be picked up in the teen area.
